Cleantech for UK is an initiative powered by Cleantech Group and supported by Bill Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy, brings the cleantech innovation and investment community and policymakers closer together, positions clean technologies as a positive, forward-looking pillar of the UK’s vision for the future, identifies tangible opportunities to accelerate cleantech scaleup and highlights areas where the UK is positioned to show global leadership.
The initiative builds on our work with Cleantech for Europe, which launched in early 2021 and has since positioned itself as the main voice of cleantech innovation in the EU. 

Purpose of the role
We are looking for an energetic and collaborative project manager to help us expand our coverage of UK climate, energy, and innovation work. You will be part of a passionate team and regularly interact with a high-level network of innovators, investors, policymakers, NGOs and think tanks.

Responsibilities
  • Research and analyse the cleantech innovation and investment ecosystem and relevant policy
  • Inform and consult cleantech investors and other key ecosystem actors on their policy objectives
  • Draft policy positions, consultation responses, op-eds and open letters
  • Advocate for recommendations with UK policymakers 
  • Contribute to organising events and preparing material for events, workshops and stakeholder meetings
  • Build relations with climate think tanks and collaborate on joint initiatives
  • Contribute to regular partner meetings to update and obtain feedback on progress
  • Support communications for the initiative with blog and social media posts

Requirements (you don’t need all of these to apply)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering or climate-related subject
  • Strong interest in clean technology innovation and willingness to keep up with the latest research and industry developments 
  • Strong interest in politics and policy, with some experience in either the policy or political arena, desirable
  • 3-5 years experience in energy or sustainability policy, research, journalism, or a related field 
  • Excellent critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ready to take on challenges and learn new skills
  • Ability to work towards deadlines
  • Desire to develop by giving and receiving feedback to/from other team members
  • Fluent English required
