Cleantech for France is looking for a talented, motivated, and team-oriented policy officer specializing in innovation, industry, energy, green technologies, and climate policies. You will join a passionate team and regularly engage with a high-level network of innovators, investors, policymakers, NGOs, and think tanks.
Purpose of the role
Cleantech for France is an initiative by the Cleantech Group that supports the acceleration of green technology innovation and industrialization in France, with the support of Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy foundation and the European Climate Foundation. We bring together the ecosystem of cleantech innovators and investors to facilitate dialogue and provide insights to public decision-makers and various economic and civil society actors. Our coalition includes industrial startups and investment funds dedicated to making France a leader in green technologies and committed to regional development through the establishment of new factories. This initiative is part of Cleantech for Europe, which pursues the same goals at the European level and brings together other national initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze key policy issues (innovation, industry, energy, climate, sustainable finance) and assess their impact on the development of clean technologies.
  • Consult with clean technology leaders (investors and innovators) on their challenges, goals, and potential to develop policy recommendations.
  • Draft joint policy positions, reports, consultation documents, opinion pieces, and open letters.
  • Develop influence strategies aimed at policymakers (Government, Parliament, local representatives, state operators) to advocate for the clean tech community.
  • Prepare meetings with members of the Cleantech for France coalition.
  • Organize and support both in-person and online events according to Cleantech for France’s action priorities.
  • Attend events dedicated to clean technology and climate-related topics.
  • Contribute to regular meetings with Cleantech for France’s key strategic partners.
Requirements (you don’t need all of these to apply)
  • Master’s degree in political science, law, economics, or another relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience in industrial, innovation, energy, and climate policies.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interest in innovation in the fields of climate, energy, and clean technologies, with a desire to stay informed of the latest developments in these areas.
  • Knowledge of the functioning of the Government, administrations, state operators, and Parliament, as well as the responsibilities of local authorities, to develop influence strategies.
  • Proactive, autonomous, strong willingness to take on professional challenges and acquire new skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities (short, medium, and long term) simultaneously.
  • Fluent English is required; additional languages are an asset.
